Never turn down free food. Taco Bell is offering free tacos in a nice bit of cross promotion with MLB World Series. I'll spare most details, but root for stolen bases! Also, their value menu quesadillas present great taste and value.

Referral Bonuses

If you are getting good service from a business or credit provider, you are likely to sing their praises should the conversation come up. Some of your service and credit providers will actually reward you with bonuses if you can send friends or family their way. Periodically examples will be noted here with specifics on the bonuses. First up: American Express.

I don't have a lot of credit cards. But, American Express is easy to use, and pays bonuses based on your spending. I had to spend $1000 cash during my initial sign up period, and received a $200 cashback bonus-mostly paid for my computer. Here is a link if you want to check them out.

JC Penney Weekend Sales

JC Penney may be on the ropes business wise, but for a single dad they offer clothing prices far more affordable than a high end department store like Nordstroms. If you are a larger than normal person a/k/a big and tall Penney's offers a nice variety of pants, shirts and sport coats at reasonable prices. Thank brands like Dockers, Lee, Hagar and more. Add in any discounts and you can usually get a nice deal. Last week I picked up a pair of New Balance Trail Runners at a nice discount.

Only downside to Penney's is that they may not be conveniently located in your area. They do have an excellent website, and will deliver clothes typically within a week with standard shipping costs.

Papa John's Special

I tend to rotate pizza places based on weekly specials. When I have my 14 year old for the weekend, it's Papa John's (her favorite). One thing I love being single and ordering pizza is that it stretches over 3-4 meals. Today's order was an XL 2 topping pizza. Aluminium foil wrap for the leftovers and you have an easy lunch or dinner over the next few days. That's my idea of meal prep!
